CrakCode
Mentorship Platform
Designed and scaled a mentorship-first product for tech learners and professionals
2025
— CrakCode was a fast-moving startup built to connect tech students and professionals with experienced mentors from leading companies through affordable, one-on-one mentorship sessions. As a product designer, I worked closely with the design and development teams to shape the platform from a user-experience and product strategy perspective, while also contributing to marketing and mentor onboarding efforts. The objective was to build a practical, accessible platform that enabled direct career guidance from industry professionals.

Project Overview
To design a user-centric mentorship platform that reduced friction in finding, booking, and engaging with experienced tech mentors, while addressing the needs of both learners and mentors.
CrakCode was designed as a mentorship-driven platform that enabled tech learners to connect directly with verified industry mentors through seamless discovery, scheduling, and paid consultation experiences.
The platform was built for two primary user groups: tech students or professionals seeking guidance, and mentors from established companies willing to offer career support. Designing for this dual-user ecosystem required careful consideration of usability, trust, and engagement on both sides. Working closely with developers and stakeholders, the product evolved to support complex features such as mentor discovery, availability-based scheduling, dashboards, payments, webinars, referrals, and a rewards system. Alongside design execution, strategic decisions were made to reduce user friction, improve flow efficiency, and maintain clarity as the platform scaled in functionality.
Approach

Design Approach & Execution
Building a mentorship platform required balancing usability, scalability, and real-world mentor constraints while continuously aligning design decisions with fast-paced startup goals.
The process began with identifying user pain points across mentor discovery, booking, and session management. Based on these insights, user flows were redesigned to minimize unnecessary navigation and reduce friction, particularly within the mentor search and scheduling experience. Iterative design improvements were tested and refined through close collaboration with the development team to ensure smooth and feasible implementation. As the platform expanded, complex features such as availability-based scheduling, dashboards, payments, referrals, webinars, and rewards were carefully structured to remain intuitive for both mentors and users. Continuous QA testing, feedback loops, and cross-team collaboration helped stabilize the product while supporting rapid iteration.
Process
The process was driven by continuous collaboration, rapid iteration, and a strong focus on reducing user friction in a fast-moving product environment.
The work began by understanding user pain points across mentor discovery, booking, and session management, especially where users faced confusion or unnecessary back-and-forth. Based on these insights, user flows and layouts were redesigned to simplify navigation and decision-making. Design execution happened alongside daily collaboration with developers, allowing ideas to be tested, adjusted, and implemented quickly. Frequent feedback loops, QA testing, and real-world usage insights helped refine complex features such as availability-based scheduling, dashboards, payments, referrals, and webinars, ensuring the experience remained usable despite growing product complexity.

The design philosophy centered on clarity and efficiency, ensuring that both mentors and users could achieve their goals with minimal effort. Every design decision focused on reducing friction, supporting trust, and balancing business needs with real user behavior.
Final Design
The final design resulted in a scalable mentorship platform that balanced complex functionality with a clear, intuitive user experience.
The final product featured a mentorship platform with mentor discovery, detailed profiles, availability-based scheduling, dashboards, payments, webinars, referrals, and a reward system. Each feature was designed to work cohesively within a dual-user ecosystem, ensuring mentors could manage availability and sessions easily while users could explore, book, and engage with confidence. Despite technical and logical complexity behind the scenes, the interface remained focused on usability and flow, allowing the platform to support real-world mentorship interactions at scale.
